Serendipity Sundays - I Visited the Capital and Saw the Capitol
This week was NAR's Mid-Year Legislative Meetings in Washington D.C. I have visited this city several times before and each visit yields new discoveries.
This was also Police Week and I saw thousands of police officers there to honor those that had lost their lives. On the Capitol lawn, a somber ceremony took place as they called the names one by one of those that had given the ultimate sacrifice. Families and fellow comrades were there to support and memorialize the fallen ones. I viewed from across the street and it was very moving.
Seeing the policemen there in huge numbers was enough for me to know this is what makes America strong. It is these people and other first responders that are willing to stand up and do what is right, stand in harm's way and protect the rest of us and allow us to live and enjoy our lives. I am deeply grateful.
I have had a tour of the Capitol Building and didn't feel the need to do it again. As for our legislators. I would rather look at the building from the outside and fantasize that good things are being done inside. One can only hope.
