The Gorillas

Services for Real Estate Pros with Referral Group Incorporated

I have no words for just how difficult the trek to see the Gorillas was. I hired two Porters to help me but I was sure there was no way otherwise. The Gorilla families migrate daily and so in addition to the guides, guards, porters and the tracking trekkers there are so many chances you have within a given period. Today we hiked straight up and and had to form a new trail to get to where the closest family was. The trek up was over three hours. It is impossible to describe this but suffice to say that if my Mother of Blessed Memory was still alive she would have slapped me silly. It was dangerous, exhilarating, and something I will never do again.

I would say that is was worth this beautiful photo.  We have a friend going to just visit gorrillas, and he will stay in a camp and study his particular family.  He is our not so retired vet, and he is working out to be in shape for September.  A

I am so grateful you have been able to post photos of your venture, Sheila. I know what you mean about strenguous trips. Climbing Skellig Michael's 600 stairs to reach the 8th century monestary and to see puffins, or even that long trip to Mexico, ending on a steep horseback ride to see the Monarch butterfly migration. You get so focused on what you're gonna see that you can't imagine doing that hardship again.

Like if you knew how hard it was you might not have done it in the first place. Reading about it and doing it? Two different things. Kudos to you!!
