5 Myths When Buying A Long Island Home

Real Estate Agent with The Top Team @ Charles Rutenberg Realty 255 Executive Dr, Plainview NY 11803
Expectations may be high when purchasing a home. If you are home buyer...remember it's still a business transaction.
Here's Our Top 5 Myths For Home Buyers:Home Buying Myths
1. The Listing Information Is Always Correct ~ Wrong.
When it comes to listings, don't always take the information on the house as being on-target. Some times listing agents don't bother to check out facts they receive from the sellers and the wrong data is posted. Always verify!
2. We Will Find The PERFECT House ~ Not Always.
Buyers may try to focus on something that's wrong with a house rather than all of its good points. Don't expect to get everything on your wish list, and focus on the items that are the most important to you.
3. If We Have Different Realtors Looking For Homes On Our Behalf, We'll Find A House Quicker ~  Wrong Again.
By working exclusively with one Realtor you will improve the momentum and your end results. Working with your Buyers Agent thrives on communication, loyalty and trust!
4. When A House Remains On The Market Longer, The More You Can Negotiate A Better Deal ~  Not Always.
Buyers always ask, "How long has this home been on the market?" They may think the longer its been on the market the more they can negotiate the price down. However, it often means the seller is determined to hold on to their price.
5. If The Offer Is Accepted Right Away, It Was Too Much To Offer ~  Wrong.
It May Be Buyers Remorse. There's no point in second-guessing what the bottom line is, go with your goal and everyone will be a winner.

Wonderful list and a great one for Carol Williams to feature in her weekly list of great posts too!

I agree, loyalty and trust as well as staying the course with one agent (if that agent is attentive as you are) is key to finding that dream home, Sheila.

Happy Friday!

Good points for all buyers!  I've had to deal with all of them but number 5 is particularly poignant for me because I had buyers pull out of a good deal because they . . . thought . . . they had paid too much.  They regretted it later.

Happy to see the star on your post. Agree with all you've outlined here - loyalty is a good thing.  As for buyer's remorse - that's a tough one.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 , What a great post! #1 is a great one to have first. It is amazing how often here in Maryland that the public record data is incorrect, which then auto-fills wrong information on listings in the MLS!

You make some great points Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 .  Number 1 always gets me.  I called an agent on it recently.  He had imported the listing from the previous agent - including her contact info!  He never even checked it before it went live.
