Reminiscing...find my grandparent's house online

After reading a blog post on here by Bryant Tutas , his town (Poinciana) immediately reminded me of my grandparent's house in Ft Lauderdale (Tamarac) as they lived on Royal Poinciana Lane.  Note:  I haven't been there since the mid 1980s.

Thankfully, it's a small street, and I was able to find their house on Z.  I went to google maps first and I could see where it was and the streetview, so I was able to find the right house.  Then, I went to Z to see the interior.

It was kind of weird looking at the pictures (with other people's stuff), but also very cool as it brought back a lot of memories.  They really did have a nice house, right on the golf course.  I can see the kitchen was remodeled (which is a good thing).

I wonder if I can find their old house on Long Island.  That's a bit more challenging as I was probably only 6 or 7 the last time I went there.  My mom always drove there...I don't think my dad (who grew up in the Bronx) liked trying to find his was around on Long Island.  I know their town, but not their street.  I remember the inside of the house and the next door neighbor's pool.  I don't think I'd recognize the outside of their house, so it makes it a bit more challenging.  Of course, I could cheat and just ask my mom, but that would take the fun out of it.

It is amazing what you can find online now.

Interesting idea! I'd love to look at my Great Grandparents home, but don't know the address, just know how to drive td there. Would love to see the interior. GGdad had worked for the RR and his job would take him back east where he would buy treasures to bring home. Cherrywood was impossible to buy in Nebraska, yet their house had all cherrywood trim. Wonder if it's still there (or if it's all been painted by now??)

Ruth - Oh wow that sounds cool.  Cherry is beautiful.  If you know how to drive there, you might be able to figure it out on google maps.  I just looked for their original house, but no clue how to find it.  I wouldn't even know how to drive there as I was so young.  I'll have to ask my mom.

Good morning Debbie. I never thought about doing this but will now. I wonder about my parents row home in Philadelphia.

Hi Debbie - it is amazing.  I looked up the houses we looked at in November and found the sale price and the date of sale.
