Looking to take a walk or do some fishing along the old 7 mile bridge in Marathon Florida? Well...you are going to have to wait...until 2017!
Access ramps on each side of the Knight's Key parking lot were closed at the beginning of July 2016 to begin performing a much needed update. The repairs include repaving the parking lot entrance, installing new retaining walls along the bridge access ramp, rebuilding bridge access from the parking lot, picnic pavilions, and seawall, and installing pedestrian access ramps on each side of the parking lot.
Though all pedestrian access will be closed while the project is going on, it will not affect any travel lanes. Just be mindful of the construction workers in the area and obey all posted signs and speed limits.
The project is scheduled to be completed in April 2017.
