-Define steps needed to achieve a long-term goal. It’s easy to sit down and make a list of goals and things that you’d like to see happen in the new year. However, it’s just as easy to lose focus and forget how exactly to define that goal. Typically, there are stepping stones that must be crossed to see that achievement happen. Take some time and lay out those stepping stones and consider them “mini-goals”. Defining these necessary steps to achieve the big end goal will help you stay organized, focused and reach that next big achievement much more quickly.

-Understand the importance of what you do. The biggest part about selling your services is setting yourself apart by believing in the quality and importance of what you do. Confidently discussing why your services are the best, what makes your brokerage different from others and what makes you a real estate expert is imperative for ensuring that prospects feel comfortable working with you. If you don’t quite have a passion for what you do, it will eventually show to clients and colleagues.

-Be a teacher. Show how valuable your real estate expertise is by being a teacher to colleagues, friends and clients. Whether you choose to focus on specific specialties, such as bank-owned or short sale properties, Armed Forces relocation or first-time homebuyers, or whether you prefer to be an all-around expert, teaching some “tricks of the trade” to colleagues is always a positive thing. Additionally, showing your expertise to clients by easily managing tricky situations, presenting workable solutions to issues that may arise and ensuring thorough communication will set the tone for a satisfactory relationship.
