Decorating for Halloween is one of the best parts of the holiday. The worst part about the holiday is the clean-up afterwards. Outside, you may have to clean up your own decorations and any extra "decorations" added by pranksters, such as eggs and toilet paper. Inside, you may have candle wax that has dripped on your carpet or leftover costume makeup on your furniture.
The fun must end sometime and the cleanup begin. We have created this short list of tips to help you clean up some of the more common messes that come along with Halloween.

Egg Splat Attack

Time is the key here. If you wait until the afternoon, the eggs could become sunbaked. Sunbaked egg yolks can stain your siding. Clean these off your house as soon as possible.
Don't just go scrubbing, though. The little shards of eggshell will act as an abrasive and could take bits of paint along with the gunk. Get your garden hose instead. First wet below the egg, then spray above the egg. The water will fall in sheets and gently flush away the mess. Try not to actually aim at the egg splat, it could splatter the egg yolk even more.
If you need a little more cleaning power get a bucket of warm water, add some dish soap, and then gently scrub until clean. Do not use hot water as you will bake on the yolks.

Toilet paper in your trees

Wet toilet paper is a beast to remove from trees. So wait until the sun evaporates dew; or, if rain is predicted, start removal right away.
Use a rake to grab and pull the TP down, a leaf blower to blast it, or a telescoping reacher/grabber to pluck it.
Start at the top and work your way down. Immediately throw paper away: Leaving it on your lawn can smother grass.

Candle wax on the carpets

The number one mistake people make when trying to clean hot wax from a carpet is trying to clean hot wax from a carpet. Wait until the wax cools. It you don't you will most likely just spread it around, making it more difficult to clean, and could burn yourself in the process.
When the wax has cooled, break it with a dull knife or Popsicle stick. Throw away the pieces.
Cover remaining bits with a paper towel or rag, and press a warm iron to the area. Replace the towel frequently to avoid spreading the wax.

Halloween makeup on upholstery and carpet

Many commercial carpet and upholstery cleaners remove makeup from unwanted places. The only tricky part is applying these cleaners.
Be sure to always test the cleaner on an inconspicuous spot. Apply a dab of cleaner on a white cloth, then hold it to the test area for about a minute. If no color is transferred to the white cloth, the cleaner is safe.
Never rub cleaner on a stain. Rather, blot the stain starting from its outer edge and work to the center.

Halloween is an extremely diverse holiday and has a wide variety of messes that will need cleaning. What are some of your cleaning horror stories?

Depending on your land lord, rental houses can have limits on the amount and type of decorations you can put up for Halloween (or any holiday). If you own your own home there is not limit to what you can do. See why now is the perfect time to buy a home!

Indeed the day after Halloween is a big clean up day for many.  It's a must do to keep ones property looking well maintained and groomed after the spooks have been out.

Hope, everyone had a great and safe Halloween celebration.  My daughter pulled Christmas decorations the very first day, her hints to me: time for gifts:)
