I always used to wonder - not what IDX is, but which service should I use for IDX on my website.
After joining KW, I am happy with Wolfnet - and perhaps need to learn few things here and there about that, but Ricky has opened the floodgate -- not one or two....many IDX solutions are available on market.
I am sure there will be some differences - in price and product. If you are looking forward to a better IDX Solution....
Here is a re-blog from Ricky.
Internet Data Exchange or IDX Explained - IDX is the reason that all Listed properties will show up on the myriadof Agent websites including Home.com, Realtor.com, Movoto.com etc. The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) provides a Feed to various companies who then broker that feed out to various websites.
In a Nut shell it means that you can showcase ALL listings on your MLS through this feed on your personal website giving consumers an opportunity to see those listings through YOUR looking glass. There are free ones available in most MLS areas, however for 29.00 or so per month you get many more options.
You can even set these feeds up as iFrames in your blogs, and set up Market Dominant areas with those specific searches, very easy to set up. Most companies have video tutorials built into their service to walk you through all aspects or their set up.
Here are a few of the IDX solutions available to you:
