Don't Let a Little Wind Blow Up Your Open House

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hamm Homes

Open Houses are tough enough to set up.  On a windy day, it can be very frustrating to set up all your signs just to find them blown over when you go back to pick them up.  You might be wondering why you had little or no traffic in the open house for a few hours.  Well, if people don't see your signs, they won't come.

I had a friend make some very cool weight bags for my open house signs so they won't blow over.  She made canvas bags which I then filled with rocks and sand.

Now if I don't have people coming through my open houses, I know it's not because the signs blew over.

Very good trick Will.  Nice job.  Just don't make me lift them out of the trunk of the car please.

Being at the coast this is a common practice for us. We fill a gallon ziploc type bag half full of sand. It does the trick and is easy to pack around.

Hi Will, great idea to keep those signs standing especially for and during an open house.

Hi Judith,  Yes was always wondering why no one would show up at open houses, discovered the wind was not making me any money, so the bags were develop by one of my clients.

Will, Looks like a handy tool.  We don't normally have enought wind to blow our signs over in the Houston area.

I care about you and your transaction.

Good idea ... had this issue today but no sandbags...

Great idea! since I don’t have a bottom on my signs I’m going to tie a long string of twine to both sides of my open house signs and then tie the “sandbag” or “rock bag” that I make to the sign.
