life: There is so much beyond the classroom - 01/04/12 11:36 AM

There is so much beyond the classroom and that is why I love Oregon so much. I invited you to come to this wonderful part of our country and discover what we have to offer. We have the mountains, the oceans, the deserts, we have it all and it is all here to teach you.

life: Don’t complain about it, do something about it! You have to fight for happiness! - 11/18/11 06:59 AM

I often see blog posts here in the rain complaining about how unhappy they are today. Well, did you know happiness isn’t something that comes free, it is something you have to fight for! You can have all that you want, but it doesn’t come free! I’ve fought in my life and happiness has come to me in the form of a beautiful princess, kids and a castle I can call my own.
Have you fought today for your happiness?

life: Today is the day for forgiveness, so don’t hold a grudge - 10/30/11 05:38 PM

I loved this quote as so many people do hold grudges and because of that they can’t get on with their lives and it actually holds them back. Forgive those who you hold a grudge against, because I’ll make best they have long forgotten why you are holding the grudge!
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

life: Reflections - 10/25/11 03:19 AM

Reflecting on one’s life is something that we all do from time to time, but don't let it control your life. Look to the future and know that it will be bright. Only look to the past as a reference point and don't make the same mistakes twice.
Make it a great day!

life: OK, last week I wrote about my inspirational friend Darran Zenger, but he just keeps amazing me! - 09/29/11 07:06 PM

I know it has only been a week since I wrote about my friend Darran Zenger who continues to be an inspiration to my family and I. But, being legally blind and deaf he continues to do great things despite having Usher Syndrome he never lets that defeat him and continues to prove to everyone that nothing should hold you back!
If you didn’t read my previous article about Darran, please click here and do so now and then come back and see what Darran has managed to do this week despite being told that he couldn’t!

life: Think you can’t volunteer? Think again! Meet my friend Darran Zenger with the American Red Cross - 06/23/10 06:52 PM

I got to meet Darren 12 years ago through my church and had the privilege to learn sign language from him and his wife Sharon. Now my wife and I did this for about a year while our oldest Meesha was still a baby.

What surprised us was that as Samantha and I were learning, so was Meesha. We brought her along to all the classes since they were at his home. But, one day we realized that Meesha was asking for stuff to eat and drink in sign language.
Darran is an amazing person that has taught me … (15 comments)

life: Life and real estate don't seem so big when you have time reflect on them from 35,000 feet - 09/05/09 05:09 PM

When you answering the phone every 3 minutes, getting calls from doctors and dealing with everyday life, it can be pretty overwhelming! But, when you turn off the phone, look down at the earth from 35,000 feet, it can see small and the problems that life is throwing at you can seem for a moment small.

A good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and hasn’t been given much time to live. While I answer phone calls from clients about the problems they are facing in real estate, I look down from this plane and realize they … (17 comments)

life: We always try to protect our children, but I didn’t realize - 01/20/09 02:51 PM
As many of you know, my family has chosen to home school despite my parents, grandparents, and even my brother all being teachers or having been teachers. But, one of the things that they criticized us for in that decision is that our children weren't getting the social interaction that they needed.
Now, I personally disagree with that because they are involved in sports, church youth groups and even girl scouts, so they get plenty of social interaction as far as I'm concerned. Even if you talk to most people who meet our kids they say they are the most well spoken … (11 comments)

life: Every path has a puddle - 01/14/09 04:43 PM
Every path had a puddle, so ask yourself this, do you plan to go around it, jump over it or do you plan to step right in it and let it slow you down?
Life is a path and if you choose to stay dry, then you need to look for the puddles ahead and take the steps to avoid them. I hate to watch those who are on a path to greatness get stuck in those puddles along the way and then stand there and complain instead of moving on.
It is your decision. Will you view it as a puddle, … (17 comments)

life: Bad is never good until worse happens - 01/11/09 04:08 AM
This proverb speaks volumes doesn't it? But, I don't want good, I want great. So the only way to do that is to go out and find it. Bad, Good, Great, none of these will find you, you find them by your actions.
Here is a list of my actions for January 2009 that I plan on helping me from good to great!
Donate more time to charitable organizations
Spend more time with my kids
Go to church
Spend less time working and more time earning
Be more positive and give encouragement to those in need What are your actions today going … (6 comments)

life: You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality - 01/06/09 03:42 AM
Boy, when Ayn Rand said that famous quote could she have been talking about the real estate market we are having today? No, of course not, but still it certainly applies. Now, I am not going to tell you that the real estate market is perfect, but you know what I am going to tell you. I'm going to say your reality doesn't have to be as bad as your neighbors.
Many people including agents in this market listen to the news, then they panic and hide in the corner. They see reality as something that is impossible to avoid. Well, I … (15 comments)

life: Dang I’ve become old = When I was your age… - 11/15/08 11:02 PM
Oh crap, I channeled my very alive father when I heard the words come out of my mouth when talking to a younger client of mine. He said, "I saw you on Twitter and thought about giving you a shout out, but saw the only updates on there from you were for your posts, don't you use it?"
Well, that is when the words flowed from my lips all too easily, "I have never really used and to be honest just don't get it" What? Technology, not understanding it? Dang it! My father calls me when something technical goes wrong... I'm the … (18 comments)

life: Birth Control – A story of Education vs Reality - 08/07/08 04:19 PM
Depending on your age, you may or may not have had the experience I had in school with health education. When I went to school they gave us a bag of flour and said this is your child take care of it for the next week.
Now, to me this didn't seem like child care, but in a way it did. A new born weighs about 10 lbs and if you cut the bag accidentally, like a child, it will bleed. The difference is you didn't have to feed it, change its diapers or have it wake you up in the middle … (15 comments)

life: Sure it rains – But, the beauty that it brings more than makes up for it - 01/05/08 05:02 PM
I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life and I love it! Sure it rains, but the beauty that it brings more than makes up for it. You see, most people when they think of Oregon and Washington, they think it rains all the time.
At times it does seem like that, but, with that rain comes year round beauty. We have some of the most wonderful campgrounds, skiing, and beaches in the world because of this rain. I think that is more than a fair trade, and if you ask people who have visited Oregon, you will find that … (16 comments)
